Customer Show and Tell, Part 2

The first full week of February I had an online BlowOut Event in the online section of my shop. Everyone who made a purchase during the event received a free gift. Vasha wasted no time in turning her free gift into a finished project!

Vasha's Alamosa Quilt Company bag

Seriously, she received her package on a Monday and sent me this photo on Thursday of the same week! She received the pattern and fabric license plate as her free gift. All of the fabric was from her stash.

Michele is one of my wool applique and hand embroidery customers. She came into the shop a few weeks ago with this idea to make a dog portrait. She wanted to use wool for the dog and I think she already had enough wool in the right colors. What she needed was a background fabric and to talk about how to finish her piece.

Michele's dog portrait

I showed her a few background fabric ideas and you can see the one she chose. This fabric is white with all of the embroidery shapes already printed on the fabric. She just stitched over the printed lines then put her dog portrait on top. She found a nice shadowbox frame with mat somewhere and finished it this way. Honestly, this turned out so much better than I imagined in my head when we were talking. Michele does beautiful work, but this is just so dang creative and adorable!

Customer Show and Tell

One of the best things about owning a quilt shop is getting see all of my customers finished projects!

Linda took the very first Westalee Ruler Quilting class I offered through my shop, which was in the summer of 2018. She has taken to ruler quilting like a duck to water. She has used her collection of Westalee rulers to quilt quite a few projects - both UFOs and new projects. This is her latest finish along with a close up of the quilting.

The fabric Linda used is called Itsy Bitsy Americana panel and the pattern is called Stacked. She quilted it with a gold metallic thread that adds just the right amount of sparkle.

Sharyl has been a customer for a few years. She would probably classify herself as a beginner quilter but she has done quite a few things with her embroidery machine. This is a pattern from Hoopsisters.

She is making two of these that are similar, but not exactly alike. She plans to keep one and gift one.

Sample Sewing

I've been busy sewing samples for my shop. I received this gorgeous Patriotic/Americana fabric line with a panel recently and a new pattern from Villa Rosa called Splendor.

Patriotic Splendor

I added a little black Grunge as the sashing around the panel and will use the same for the binding. The finished size of this will be 56" by 59". You could easily make it bigger by adding a border.

The panel is available in my online shop: USA Patriotic Panel Most of the fabrics are also available in our online shop in the Novelty Fabrics Section. I am planning to kit this project up too, but I am currently out black Grunge. It is ordered and should be here soon.

It is on my list to reorganize my online shop to try to better group like items. I've been learning about tags so as soon as I can go back and tag everything properly the organization in my online shop should improve.

Dad School

When our son was little he would often ask his dad how he learned to fix things around the house. The answer - Dad School. When we started giving this answer it was kind of a joke, but it has now turned into a real thing.

Recently our front door knob needed to be changed. It has been getting harder and harder to operate. So 20 minutes and one session of Dad School and we have a new front door knob.

Happy Flannel Day!

Did you know that February 10th is Flannel Day? Ya, me either, but it is. We are celebrating all things flannel at Alamosa Quilt Company today. We made up a fun flannel scarf.

Flannel scarf

The pattern calls for forty 5" squares and you can use flannel, cotton, wool or any kind of fabric you got. If you have a charm pack laying around that you don't know what to do with, this is perfect.

Savannah Jane Scarf pattern

We even kitted it up and it's on sale through midnight Friday February 11, 2022. Actually all of our flannel fabrics and kits are 15% off in celebration of Flannel Day.

Our kits include all of the fabric you need to make one just like ours (shown in first photo above) plus the pattern.

Flannel Scarf Kit

Flannel Scarf Kit

You can get the flannel scarf kit, regularly $19.99 but would be 15% off, or just the pattern: Savannah Jane. The pattern is $2.99 in store and $3.99 in our online shop. I added a dollar to the price in the online shop to cover the cost of shipping it because I removed the shipping charge for the single item. The minimum shipping charge in my online shop is $7 but nobody wants to pay $7 to get a $2.99 pattern mailed to them! This way you can get a single small pattern for a reasonable price.

And we have other flannel fabrics and kits in the online shop. To view all things flannel in the online shop click the following link: Flannel Items Use the coupon code FLANNEL15 at checkout to receive 15% off any flannel fabric or kit through midnight on Friday, February 11, 2022.

My shop, Alamosa Quilt Company, is participating in the FabShop Quarterly Online Blow Out Event.

Fabrics, kits, books, patterns, and notions are all included at great prices. For example, all the fabrics listed for sale in this event are $6.50 per yard! Everything else is 25% to 50% off. And there is Free Shipping with all orders of $125 or more. The event officially begins on Monday, Feb 7, 2022, but the clearance section is loaded and ready for shopping right now.

If you are local or will be passing through Alamosa within the next few weeks, you can select "in-store pick-up" instead of paying for shipping. You will receive an email when your order is ready to be picked up. If you need me to hold it for a few weeks, just let me know. We have a good system for holding orders (because we do it often) so your items will be securely saved for you and ready to go when you get here.

Crimson Tweed Update

I am still slowly making progress on my Crimson Tweed quilt.

Crimson Tweed 02/01/22

The stems are all sewn down in the borders and I have started adding the berries. I will be teaching a hand embroidery class for a local guild in March so soon I will need to put this one aside while I prepare for that class. They want to "learn a bunch of stitches" so I have a fun little project in mind for them. We are going to do a Circle Sampler. I'll show you what I mean when I have something to show.
