Taking a Star Break

I've got 43 of the 68 4" stars done for my Oh My Stars project.

Last night I decided I needed a bit of a star break so I started a new project.

I got the left most brown piece sewn to all of the middle print pieces.

I'm making another Urban Baby quilt. This one will be a sample for kits for Heartstrings and Heirlooms. The link will take you to the shop's new online store. We (and by that I really mean me) are slowly getting products photographed and put into the online store. I knew that starting an online store was time consuming, but even I underestimated how long it takes just to go through all the steps to get one product up on the website. *sigh* Anyway, next week I hope kits for the above quilt will be available in the online store.

Finally, someone asked me how I can change a bobbin with Bernie in my new table. I thought it would be easier to show you.

The machine sits on a separate platform that hangs below the flat work surface. In the photo above you can see my hand reaching into the bobbin area. The machine platform is completely open on all sides so you just need to reach under. The other option is to remove the clear acrylic insert around the machine. It is just resting on a lip and lifts out easily.

I am really enjoying my new table! It has a lot more room to the left of the machine than my old set up. When working on the little stars I can set my smallest cutting mat there to square up the HST units. I have also noticed an improvement in my posture while sewing. Bernie has to sit a little farther away from me than I had him on my other table, (I had to move him closer to be able to use the knee lift) which has allowed me to sit more comfortably in my chair. I didn't even realize that I wasn't comfortable until I changed!!

All those stars! That takes perseverance! I, too, need breaks from projects like that! But they are looking great!

Love the stars and am mystified by your new project.

Thanks for the tutorial about Bernie and the new table. Methinks I need a table like yours. Think I'll look back at other posts to see if you mention the maker.

Cheers!

Love what you've done. I can't wait to see it finished. I think chain piecing would make it go a lot faster! I'm so happy you love your new table! ;-)

On my! Sewing all those curves. I'd be a basket case. I don't do pieced curves. Tried it, hated it.
