Two New Things

Thing 1:

I recently got a new portable light.

I love my Stella lamp, but it does not fold down as small as this one. This one will be much easier to take to classes. It uses 4 AA batteries or can plug into a USB outlet. I invested in some rechargeable AA batteries for this to make it more affordable to use.

Thing 2:

I made another one hour basket. Click here to see my first one and for a link to the free tutorial.

This time I used Soft and Stable batting and quilted it. The original pattern calls for fusible fleece and does not have a quilted exterior.

I put the handles on the long side as opposed to the short side like the pattern suggests. For me, having the handles on the short ends is awkward. I prefer them this way but will make them a bit longer on the next one.

For really good lighting, you ought to try these! I have some and I love them. There is enough lights to do two large home machines if you get the extra adapter. I've had mine for two years and they are still super bright and I LOVE them. No need to tote an extra light with you...these stick right to your machine!

Ps...I'm not getting paid to,say this, I just really love these lights and wanted to share! My quilt guild actually bought an extire roll and extra adapters and we sold them by the light. Was much cheaper that way, however, $45 for the kit plus the extra adapter is a great deal. I promise you will love these lights.

I do like the bag I will have to check out the tutorial. Of course I prefer the quilted version. ;-)

Jake, I should have been clearer. This light is for hand sewing. I have been teaching quite a few hand embroidery classes at my LQS. This little light will be perfect for taking to these classes as well as sewing at home.

I so much agree with you. I too would like the handles where you placed them on the second bag. I like the quilting on the second one too. Enjoy that light.

You've been making all sorts of cute things lately. The owls and chicken pincushions are adorable. The blanket bags turned out wonderfully and oh so practical, and the tumbler quilt is coming along quite nicely. I need to get started on mine. I keep pushing it back with other projects.

I really like how that quilted basket looks! Nicely done. Love Soft and Stable in these baskets.
