Ugly Trash Bag Be Gone!

I have yards and yards of fabric in my stash. So why I have I been using this sorry red plastic bag for my cutting table clippings for over 7 years?!!

On Monday I said, "No More!" I pulled out some pretty fabric from my stash and an old vinyl tablecloth for a liner. Now I have a pretty trash bag.

Ah! Much better! Life is too short to use an ugly trash bag!

This is just a simple lined bag with a hanging loop. I cut four 10.5" by 12.5" pieces (two for the lining and two for the outside) and then a 10.5" by 2" piece for the hanging loop. I think I only used about 8.5" worth of the hanging loop strip, but since I cut a 10.5" strip for the outside it was just easiest to cut a 2" piece off of that. Then I just adjusted the loop so that it fit over my knob. I boxed the bottom to make it stand open better when hung.

I was going to do a button hole on the back as a hanger, but the fancy button hole foot that came with Bernie doesn't make one big enough for the knob on my cutting table to fit through. And I'm just too lazy to make one the old fashioned way. It is just a trash bag after all!

If anyone is interested in a more precise pattern, let me know in the comments and I'll write one up.

Love your bag. I really need to make one for my car. My brother is here and I nearly died when he got in my car and saw the mess. You have the answer for me. Thanks.

Great line..."life is too short to use an ugly trash bag." I like it!

I like the loop! A buttonhole would tend to pull, I think. The loop is better. Now, I need to get some appropriate fabric and make one for the car (and convince Husband to use it. That is what he thinks the driver's side floorboard is for).

I love your trash bag! I need to make one for my car, I usually just hang a plastic grocery bag from the handle. I wonder how I can make that work with your pretty bag?
