March Guild Class

My guild meeting was Saturday. Check out what we made.

This is a pressing and cutting mat.

Inside there is a 12" by 18" cutting mat and the same size ironing surface. Awesome! We had such a fun time making them but got a little high from the glue fumes. I'm going to really enjoy using this!

Neat! I love the fabric you chose for the outside cover, too. Did you guys get a pattern somewhere, or did someone in your guild come up with it. Looks like that was a fun project!

I have one of these that Liz and Marianne gave me for Christmas one year when I wasl their editor. I love mine.

That is really nice. I could use one of those.

That is great! Is there a pattern for that out there somewhere?

Wow Lynn, that is Super Nice! Did you deconstruct something to create this? I can see how to add the cutting surface, but did you make your own ironing surface from scratch?

Thanks Darla. Yep, made from scratch. We used two piece of particle board, some batting, a piece of canvas for the pressing surface, a purchased cutting mat, fabric, carpet tape and some stinky permanent glue. It is really nice and was pretty easy. It took us about 2 hours but you could do it in less time with fewer people.

The class was taught by a guild member and she didn't hand out patterns, so this may have been something she figured out on her own. I have asked if there is a pattern. Depending on her answer, I may do a tutorial for this project since I have gotten so many positive comments.
