Works in Progress

I started a new quilt this week. I should have had this done weeks ago since it will be a class sample. I wanted to make it out of a specific fabric but it doesn't look like we will be able to get pre-cuts for that line. So I just picked up two charm packs we had in stock along with some white for the background.

Round About Blocks
These are just the blocks. There is a plain border and then a pieced border around the blocks. In looking at the picture, I think the longer diagonal green and pink rows need to be switched. I'll do that before sewing the blocks together.

The pattern is from the book Another Bite of Schnibbles by Carrie Nelson. I added an extra row of blocks to mine. One, I prefer rectangular quilts to square ones and two, the extra row makes it a better baby size in my opinion.

I'm also making slow progress on the embroidery for my Which Witch's Boot quilt.

The pattern calls for the candy corns to be stitched with a buttonhole stitch. I tried one with a buttonhole stitch and then started the second one with a satin stitch. I like the satin stitch much better and ripped out the first one I did. I'll do it over with a satin stitch.

I like the new quilt you started. Good job on color layout.

You're making good progress on the hand stitching! I had never done the buttonhole stitch as a satin stitch. Mine worked out okay, but it was different! Have a great weekend. I'm getting nothing done these days, it seems.

Lynn, the quilt is going to be beautiful, the blocks already are. :)

Good job on the embroidery thus far too. :)

Love your Schnibbles quilt. Those fabrics are beautiful. I've been wondering what to do with a couple charm packs that I have. I'll have to look into this. You're making great progress on your stitchery.
