More Hand-dyed Clothesline Projects

In exchange for making her a tote, my friend Vicki dyed 200 ft of clothesline for me. Click here to see Vicki's tote.

Below are the two items I made.

I cut the package into two 100 ft lengths to make a small tote and a large bowl.

I love the bits of purple sprinkled through out. Thanks Vicki!

Vicki's Turquoise Tote

My friend Vicki is another hand-dyer. She wanted a hand-dyed clothesline tote like mine, but didn't want to make it herself. We worked out a deal and I made her tote. 

This is what I started with.

And here is the finished tote.

It turned out fabulous!

Now that her tote is finished I can start on the one she hand-dyed for me.

Two More Totes

The first one is a blue tote to replace the one that Spooky took over.

The second one is made from the hand-dyed clothesline I showed you last week.

I love, love, love how it turned out!

Hand-dyed Clothesline

A few years ago my guild had a "dye day." A couple of the ladies who do hand-dyed fabric brought their dyes, mixed them up for us and we got to dye 2 yards of fabric, cut up into as small of size pieces as we wanted. I cut mine into fat quarters. 

It was a fun day and I learned a lot. However, the most important thing I learned is that I really don't want to get into hand dyeing fabric. "You dye, I'll buy" is my motto now.

Fast forward to last week. A friend was signed up to take my clothesline tote bag class. She makes beautiful hand-dyed fabric and asked if I thought she could dye this clothesline. I said yes! And will you dye one for me too? I bought a package of clothesline at the shop and sent it home with her.

The class was yesterday. She brought two packages of 200 ft. clothesline that she dyed and let me choose which one I wanted. She had a green and the purple shown below.

I chose the purple. She used the green for the class. No one finished their tote in class but all of them got well over halfway done. When she finishes her green one I get a picture of it. I will be sewing my purplicious one up soon.

Hand Dyed Goodness

I decided some time ago that while I really like hand dyed fabric, I don't enjoy the dyeing process. So I will happily pay someone else to do the dyeing for me. Luckily, I have a friend who enjoys dyeing fabric. Recently we have done some trading. I gave her a sewing chair I was no longer using and she gave me some of her hand dyed fabric.

When we got all the snow a few weeks ago, she snow dyed.

Aren't these fabulous! I have no idea what I will do them, but I had to have them. Heck, I could just frame these and call it good!

I also got these three hand dyed pieces she did at her recent Ricky Tims retreat.

Again, I have no plan for these but they will enhance my stash nicely.
