Do you need a handmade gift, but don't want to make it?

I added a new section to my online shop called Ready Made ItemsAll items listed in this section are ready-made items. This means that they are finished projects ready to be used and enjoyed. All items listed in this section are lovingly made by Alamosa Quilt Company employees in Alamosa, Colorado. All items are ONE OF A KIND. These are completed samples for kits, patterns or fabric collections that we no longer need for display.

Winter Family Quilt

The quilt shown above is just one of the finished quilts I have listed in my online shop. I want to be clear, I will not make anything for you on commission or as a special order. These items are already made and ready to be used. I also want to be clear that in most cases I no longer have the fabrics used or the pattern used. All of these items are kept at the shop which means they are from a smoke-free, pet-free environment.

Most ready made items will ship free because they cost more than our free shipping minimum of $100. As time allows I will be photographing and listing more of our completed samples in our online shop.

Art Group Project :: A Finish - finally!

Well, I just did a search to figure out how long ago I finished the top of this project.

Answer: Dec 7, 2016!

It has been basted and ready for quilting since March of 2017.

I needed something to quilt recently to get someone's mid-arm machine working. This is all that I had that was already basted and ready to go. Sadly that is the only reason this one got finished, but I'm glad it is finally done!

You can read previous posts about this project by clicking the following link: Art Group Project That post says that we were suppose to receive instructions for the final border at our December 2016 meeting, but obviously I didn't do whatever that was. And it's too late now!

2021 Ornaments :: A Finish

My ornaments for this year are done!

2021 Ornaments

I completed two sets of these adorable felted wool ornaments. I had a bag full of these little wooden "handmade" tags so I add one to the back of each ornament.

I wrote my initials and the year on each little wooden tag before sewing it to the back.

Ms. Spooky Boo is not impressed.

This is how she likes to lay on me now. Her paws are right at the base of my neck. It's really hard to sew anything with a cat sitting on your chest! Being photographed was not what she had in mind as you can probably tell by her expression.

She is getting white whiskers too, but just on one side. Hard to believe that she is now 9 years old.

2021 Ornaments

I didn't make ornaments the last couple years. Just too much other stuff going on. But I was determined to make some this year.

2021 ornaments

These are in progress but almost finished. When this photo was taken I needed to add a little embroidery to a couple of them but by now I'm just doing a running stitch around them to finish them off. I will hopefully have them all done soon and ready to be sent off.

I did have the pattern for these in my shop, but they are sold out at the moment. However, if you would like a pattern just let me know. I can order more and send you a link to the pattern so you can purchase it. The pattern includes all 6 designs shown in the photo and is a $9.99 pattern. I did alter the embroidery on some of them to suit my tastes.

Itsy Bitsy Panels

Northcott fabrics has a new collection called Itsy Bitsy panels. These are one yard by width of fabric panels that each have 9 fabrics per yard.

What can you do with these you might wonder. Well, I show you two options:

One is called Stacked. The pattern includes instructions for three sizes of quilt: Crib (40.5" by 47.5"), Lap/throw (53" by 63.75") and Twin (74" by 87.5"). For the crib size you just need one panel, but you need two panels for the other two sizes. I made the crib size using the unicorns panel and a purple solid.

The other is called Block Talk. This pattern is great for layer cakes, t-shirts, and panels. I used two panels for my version, one for the center and one for the border. You also need some framing fabrics (I used a black, a medium gray and a light gray) and an accent fabric (I used a green grass print). I don't know if I will use the green grass print as binding or use one of the framing fabrics. The pattern is by Swirly Girls and they have an awesome online calculator, Block Talk Calculator, to use with the pattern for figuring out how much yardage you need for the framing fabrics and accent fabric.

This one will finish at 53.5" by 63.5".

Constance

I got in a couple new patterns and this one, Constance, is one of them.

Constance sample

One of the features I look for in a quilt pattern is does it include instructions for several sizes of quilt. This one does - lap, twin and queen sizes. The pattern is also well-written and easy to follow.

For our shop sample we just made four blocks. It's about 40" square, which is a great baby size. For fabric we mixed two collections with some basics, Wild and Aviary from Dashwood Studios.

My long arm quilter is on vacation this month so this one won't be quilted until she returns.

Monday Madness

****Limited time offer and limited quantities available****

I made this fun quilt recently.

Movie Star Quilt

I've made up a few complete kits as well as some fat quarter bundles. For one week only, October 4, 2021 - October 10, 2021, I am discounting the complete kits and offering the pattern free with purchase of the fat quarter bundle.

Shown below is a sample fat quarter bundle. All of the kits include a black batik for the border and binding with batik fat quarters similar in color to the ones below and the ones used in the quilt shown above.

Movie Star Fat Quarter Bundle

All of the kits and bundles will be similar to what is shown, but NOT EXACTLY THE SAME.

The quilt finishes at 53" by 66". The Movie Star Quilt Kit includes all of the fabrics for the front plus the binding and the pattern. The regular price is $74.99, but this week only it is $59.99.

If you just want the fat quarter bundle, Movie Star FQ Bundle, I have that option too. The bundle contains 9 fat quarters and the pattern will be include free with purchase. The price of the bundle (9 Fat Quarters) is $30 and the pattern will be included FREE.
